It doesn’t take years of being in construction to know that our industry is at the forefront of recovery from every natural disaster, aiding in the rebuilding of our neighborhoods. One of the best things about working in the construction industry is the community that we have created. We’re tough. We’re tough and we stick together.

Briq is based on the central coast of California, so we’ve seen firsthand the devastating effects of the West Coast fires this year, and understand what it will take to rebuild.  Over the past several years, we’ve also spent considerable time and effort building a strong base on the West Coast, which represents nearly a quarter of our clients.

As fires raged this year, we wanted to be a part of the recovery. In September, we decided to donate funds from our Q3 sales to directly assist our West Coast family. We looked for an organization that represents us, that stands for smart solutions to real-world issues.

That’s why we’ve chosen to donate to the World Central Kitchen, founded by world-famous chef Jose Andres. World Central Kitchen donates meals directly to people affected by disaster, and to this day has donated over a million meals all around the world.

When this year’s fires devastated communities, World Central Kitchen was among the first to report for duty, offering warm meals to hard-working first responders and families who had been displaced.

‘We envisioned an organization that would create smart solutions to hunger and poverty, and for many years we saw an amazing impact through our clean cookstoves initiative, culinary training programs, and social enterprise ventures that empower communities and strengthen economies. But we had no idea we would one day be answering the call around the world.’ -Chef Jose Andres

This year has been a tough one, but we are always stronger together. On behalf of the entire team at Briq, I want to thank World Central Kitchen for their tireless efforts, as well as the brave first responders who sacrifice so much for us every day.
